As a Thyroid Expert, Dr. Blum Discusses

The TSH Test as Part of a Segment on

“Tests You MUST Ask for at Your Annual Physical”

Annual physicals are a time to be proactive. When it comes to thyroid health, the TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) is the main screening test used by most doctors.  Dr. Blum discusses the importance of early treatment when the results are not black and white, but fall into a “grey zone.”  The TSH may not be high enough to warrant medication but is certainly borderline enough to be causing symptoms such as unexplained weight gain, brain fog, fatigue, constipation, and low body temperature.

This is the perfect time to begin a Functional Medicine treatment approach to help the thyroid work better, before it gets so sick that medication is needed.  Of course, at Blum Center for Health, we have a much more comprehensive approach to screening tests, which includes all thyroid hormones and antibodies, but the TSH can be the first sign that something is wrong.  This is a good reminder to get tested every year!

If you already have an autoimmune thyroid condition called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Grave’s disease, you can begin treatment by following the program in Dr. Blum’s book, The Immune System Recovery Plan. CLICK HERE to learn more about the book and our online program that goes with it.
