Dusty Rose

Dusty Rose was founded thirty years ago in New City, New York, by Roberta Zahl.  With faith in her hands, Roberta became the founder of a lingerie store after the original owner passed away just weeks before the store was set to open.  With a little nudging from her husband, she decided to jump in, take over, and open the store.

The name ‘Dusty Rose’ came to be at a gathering when a group of Roberta’s friends contemplating a name for the store, passed around a sample of carpet called “dusty rose” and that is where it stuck.

In 1989, a second Dusty Rose was opened at the Rye Ridge Shopping Center.  At this time the store was opened in a much smaller space next to its current location in the shopping center.

A few years after the store’s opening Dusty Rose was conceptualized from a store strictly for lingerie to a store with all of the basic women’s foundations – clothing, under garments, bathing suits and accessories.

Today, Dusty Rose is a destination store where 95% of all customers are known by name.
